The Final Five to Compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics Surfing

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics is set to commence on July 26, 2024, the biggest sporting event in the world. Surfing is one of the sports that will take place at the Paris Summer Olympics 2024.

With only 4 months away from this anticipated event, the pressure to secure the spots for the 2024 Paris Olympics is getting intense. Last March 02, 2024, during the ISA World Surfing Games in Puerto Rico, 4 men are close to fulfilling their Olympic dreams.

Rio Waida of Indonesia is set for his second Olympic Games after the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, where surfing made its debut. Waida is joined by Ramzi Boukhiam of Morocco (also on his second Olympics, newcomers Andy Criere of Spain, Joan Duru of France, and Tim Elter of Germany.

Waida expressed his elation during an interview with Olympics.com “This is amazing, this is beautiful. That was the reason why I came to this event. Last time I qualified for Tokyo.’

Having qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Waida said it is no secret that he wanted to compete in the Olympics again and relive the amazing experience.

Ramzi Boukhiam also expressed the same excitement and gratitude for the amazing opportunity. Despite the obstacles faced during the competition and the challenging wave conditions, he maintained focus and perseverance and throughout the ISA World Surfing Games competition. Beaming with pride to have represented Morocco, Boukhiam said “My dad is super proud of me up there, my country, all of Morocco. I’m really happy.”

Meanwhile, newcomer Elter of Germany honed his surfing skills in the rugged waves of the Canary Islands. The 20-year-old surfer is hopeful that this will be the start of a stellar professional career.

But despite their recent achievements, representing their respective countries is yet to be determined by their National Olympic Committees. But of course, their winnings play a significant role in achieving their Olympic dreams.

These five men represent the true spirit of the Olympics. As they set to compete in the biggest sporting event in the world, they not only represent their countries but inspire their fans with their passion for surfing.
