Diving in Belize Amidst the COVID19 Pandemic

With COVID19 vaccines still rolling out in almost all countries, restrictions have been eased for incoming and outgoing travelers. And with countries desperately wanting to get back and recover from great economic loss, now the best time to get back to diving.

Whilst the world has not fully recovered, now is the opportunity to enjoy the inviting waters of Belize’s hundreds of dive sites. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned diver, Belize has something for you.

Indulge in an abundance of rays, reef sharks, coral gardens, and an array of activities such as cave exploration, bird watching, rainforest walks, and so much more.

Now that flights to many major cities have resumed, grab that bag, passport, card vaccine, and head on to the airport to experience fantastic Belize.

Belize COVID19 Update

Currently, Belize has made a temporary ban on travelers originated from, have traveled to, or transited to Bangladesh and India due to the rising COVID19 cases in these regions.

And even if Belize has only moderate cases, health and safety protocols must still be observed. All these are to assure citizens and travelers are safe from the harmful virus.

Mandatory wearing of face masks is still implemented while on buses, trains, planes, and other forms of public transportation and while in public places. Strict social distancing measures are also implemented including 50% capacity restrictions to restaurants, groceries, and other establishments.

Entry requirements to Belize

All travelers are required to present their vaccination card as proof that they have received at least a single dose of the COVID19 vaccine or a complete dose at least 2 weeks before arrival.

Incoming travelers who are not yet vaccinated are still allowed entry provided that they can show proof of a negative COVID19 test. Negative RT PCR test is valid within 96 hours of travel and negative test results for a rapid antigen from brands like SD Biosensor, Quidel Sofia, and Abbott Panbio should be taken within 48 hours of travel.

If a travel cannot present a negative rapid test result, a COVID19 test is available and will be administered at the airport upon arrival for US$50 per passenger and must be paid in cash.
