DeepSpot: The World’s Deepest Dive Pool Is Now Open in Poland

Aptly named DeepSpot, the deepest dive pool in the world is now open Mszczonow, Poland for divers. It beats the current record held by Y-40 in Northern Italy. DeepSpot can hold more than 2.1 million gallons of water and it’s also 150-foot deep.

Designed specifically for divers and beginners who want to train in a pool before diving in the open water, DeepSpot has different training areas with artificial caves. It even has a small boat wreck and a sunken Mayan ruin to help divers train in overhead environments.

According to Michal Braszczynski, the Director of DeepSpot, this facility will not only be used by recreational divers but also by the army and fire brigade. “There are many scenarios for training, and we can also test different equipment,” he said.

This massive project cost $10.6 million to build and was completed within more than two years. This entire complex is not complete yet, as an underwater viewing area and hotel will also be built. The diving center opened its doors for testing in late November and many divers were excited to try this new facility in Poland.

Przemyslaw Kacprzak was one of the lucky few who got a chance to dive DeepSpot on opening day. “There are no magnificent fish or coral reefs here, so it is no substitute for the sea, but it is definitely a good place to learn and to train in order to dive safely in open water,” he said.

But this record for the deepest dive pool may not be held by DeepSpot for long since the Blue Abyss in the United Kingdom is believed to be 15 feet deeper than the pool in Poland. Nevertheless, both Polish and international divers are ecstatic about DeepSpot.
