Sun and Sand: Five Desert Dives You Must Try At Least Once in Your Life

When you think about diving, you don’t exactly think about the desert. But there are actually places around the world that offer you both the sun and sand for a uniquely exciting diving experience.

Here’s five of our top picks:

Atlantis, The Palm

One can only marvel at the sight of this manmade island in the shape of a palm tree in the middle of Dubai. But there’s more to the beautiful Atlantis, the Palm, than its magnificent structure.

Here, you can actually dive in the Lost Chambers where you get to experience what it’s like to dive into the Atlantis ruins. And if you’re looking for more adrenaline, head right into Deep Dive Dubai, the deepest pool in the world.

Reef Oasis Dive Club

Located in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, the Reef Oasis Dive Club features a dive pool where you get to enjoy a house reef with amazing corals and rich fish life. This is the best spot to be in the Red Sea because you don’t only get to dive in an amazing diving spot, but you’ll also get to enjoy the beautiful desert in the background.

Lake Mohave

If you don’t want to travel far to experience desert diving, head to Arizona and enjoy Lake Mohave’s magnificent collection of wrecks.

This diving spot combines the heat of the summer with the occasionally chilly waters where you get to discover different kinds of wreckage including a school bus at around 50 ft.

Tangier

Morocco isn’t only known for its culture, but it’s also a great place for diving even if you hear rumors that diving is banned here. Just imagine diving into almost untouched dive sites and enjoying the beautiful marine life that Morocco has to offer.

Shark Reef

Capping off this list is beautiful Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. If you need some adrenaline rush under water, this is the perfect spot for you because you’ll be diving in an aquarium filled with sharks.

To be exact, this aquarium holds 1.3 million gallons of water and it’s filled with sandbar, white tip and sand tiger sharks that will surely get your heart pumping while you’re underwater.
